How come, no matter where you are, if you ask someone where the bathroom is, it's always to the left?

"Down the hall, to the left"

"Go out that door, to the left"

"Turn the corner, second door to the left"

It's like there's some Newton's Law of Bathroom Physics.

I think that must apply only in your universe. At my work, the bathroom is out the hall to the right, and at home, it's the 2nd door on the right.

Which way do NASCAR racers turn in your universe?

That depends.... How you count Infineon and Watkins Glen? :P

Seriously though, I think it's just that most current architects are influenced by the same set of architectual "fathers" from the 30's to 60's. Most everything is built to the cookie cutter "best practices". For example, the stove, fridge, sink tringle in the kitchen. Every kitchen made since like 1950 has to be able to draw a triangle between these three appliances. I even think that the sink has to be opposite the other two.

Obviously, your house is inverted. You might want to see to that.

Umm... can't you draw a triangle between *any* 3 objects? Or does it just work for kitchen appliances?

Don't get all geometrical on me. I think it's supposed to be an unobstructed triange with equilateral sides.

Too bad we don't know any architects we could ask. ;o)

Is This A...

...left-handed bigotry? LOL! It's Mary, who's a southpaw & proud of it. I know in my mall, the bathroom's to the right. Same in my mom's house, in the groom shop where I use to work, & in a friend's apt. I think it's all up to the architect.

Re: Is This A...

Well, I thought maybe that logically since most--okay--wait--there may be a FEW more right handed people--or architects--than there might be left-handed ones? So, most people go down the hall to their left, open or push (or whatever) the door with their right hands, flip on the light with their left hands, scan for actuality of toilet paper with BOTH eyes--I can't believe I'm writing this.

Anyone want to tackle the anagram "roast mules" instead?

It's not an equilateral triangle in my house, either. In fact, it's almost a straight line.

You must be in your own universe.

The work triangle:

Google search:
406,000 for Bathrooms on the left
741,000 for Bathrooms on the right.

There are more bathrooms on the right. :P

Do you think anyone would notice if I edited my post?

Hmmm...maybe I'm just coming at the world from the wrong direction.
