Or maybe I'm jsut old [Dec. 12th, 2005|09:01 pm]

One of my favorite things about the Christmas season is the music. So when Husband told me that a local Christian rock station was playing nothing but Christmas music, I eagerly set the dial on my car radio.

It's driving me crazy.

I'm not a fuddy-duddy. Really, I'm not. I like all kinds of music, and I like hearing a new spin on old favorites. But it seems like every song they play is a "modernization" of a song that I really would rather hear in the original.

I don't really need to hear a calypso version of Joy to the World. I can get through the season just fine without a Las Vegas Lounge inspired Oh Holy Night. Ditto for an O Come, O Come, Emmanuel that is rephrased so choppily it sounds like someone hired Captain Kirk as a vocal coach.

Do these songs really need a hip new spin? The whole drive home, I had visions of "Buddy Jesus" in my head.

I'm with you, unless of course it's Kenny Chesney. I'll listen to his renditions any time!

ooh, reminds me, I need a new icon. *giggle*

What's wrong with a reggae version of "Silent Night?" :P

Which station? I'm beginning to tire of Sunny's Christmas collection.
