Some random thoughts [Jul. 14th, 2005|09:12 pm]

It's really hard to play cards with The Boy, because every time you say, "Go Fish" he responds with "Hey! Don't tell me what to do!"

It rained 5 1/2 inches today. That's more than we got the entire month of June. So, it never rains, but it pours. Who knew?

Why is the media being so mean to Katie Holmes? I don't share her taste in men, but picking on her because she actually says nice things about her fiance? Isn't she supposed to think he's amazing? I mean, when Husband and I were dating my co-workers would greet me with, "So, what did Mr. Wonderful do this time?" They ask her what she thinks of him, then make fun of her when she doesn't respond with, "Well, he's kinda short and a little weird, but I'm not getting any younger so I have to take what I can get."

Firefly has been in Amazon's top 10 for the past three weeks. I've now converted sitara and her SO. Spritzy has yet to respond; that must mean she thinks it sucks and doesn't want to tell me. The Serenity comic came out yesterday. It rawks.

If you have data in an excel spreadsheet, then upload it to a database, it's still the same data. And if you move it to a data warehouse...it's still the same data. I'm just sayin'.

I love The Boy anecdotes!

What brought up the data?

Ahem. At the risk of exposing myself as a daily checker of your site...It's been awhile since there's been a new recipe.

I'm glad SOMEONE is checking it...I haven't updated it since October. I'm out of space and need to buy more but also need to change the account I pay for it from, but can't find anywhere to do that, and I'm afraid I'll screw it up and lose everything. I am such a techno non-geek. Sigh.

Um, I'm thinking maybe tomato-basil soup for the next recipe. Does that violate any food rules?

It's nice that she thinks he's amazing, but I just can't help feeling he's looking for a brood mare. Sorry! I just wanna holler, "Run, Katie, run!"

Oh, I seriously hope the whole thing turns out to be a publicity stunt. I read somewhere that she and her former boyfriend weren't actually dating when they first started dating - it was all arranged to get good press and he was dating someone else at the time. (Yeah, I just used the word "dating" three times in one sentence. It's late.) But on the off chance she's serious, I think the press ought to back off. We can still laugh behind her back without them doing it in print.

I guess the reply would be that's what you get for carrying out your romance in public?

I don't mind all the couple-bashing. It's the specific eye rolling in her direction when she says anything nice about him that bugs me. What the heck do they expect her to say?

domesticharmony has it nailed. We just hate to see a nice, attractive woman eat a bug.

With The Boy, he's at the age where you give him choices. "Would you like to "go fish," or would you like me to feed these cards to you?"

My garage had water in it this morning.

Data can go stale if not preserved properly. For domestic data, a zip lock bag should be fine, but industrial data requres a nitrogen blanket with a rupture disk and low pressure transmitter alarm.

How many more days till The Movie?

Oh sphyr, such an engineer. Nitrogen blanket....

And the truth to why I have not commented on Firefly. It is still in the original packaging, sitting in my closet. I did take a step closer by purchasing, but my follow through sucks.
