Seal the deal

I have been spending way too much time in thrift stores lately. (Word of warning, folks...this is what Steampunk does to you) Lots of times I don't find anything, but I still like looking at stuff and wondering about who owned it and why they got rid of it. In my head, every item was used by people who loved it and then gave it up when they decided to downsize and go live on a private island in the Caribbean, or perhaps the Mediterranean. Never mind that I have sent enough stuff to live at the thrift store farm to know this is a fantasy.

The last time I was at my favorite thrift store, they had a basket of wax stamps. In a fit of nostalgia, I bought two of them. Wax seals and stamps were a big deal in my college years, back when mail was snail and getting new stationery was a noteworthy event. (See what I did there?) The last time I used one was sixteen years ago, when I sealed my wedding invitations with gold wax, because weddings should be all fancy like, and because I like doing stuff with fire.

Once I bought the seals, I realized we don't have any wax, so I went to the interwebs and found this dangerous site. The only reason I haven't ordered five hundred different custom seals is because I can't narrow down what I want to five hundred choices. All I need now is someone to write to.
