Maybe I'll learn to fly [Oct. 23rd, 2004|08:14 am]

So, I took the plunge, and signed up for Flylady yesterday. The emails are already starting to annoy me, but I think I can get past that. Honestly, I don't think I need Flylady to do what I need to do, but I'm hoping to learn a few tips and tricks.

Yesterday I had the house all to myself and no prior commitments, an opportunity which hasn't presented itself in quite a while. So I did some cleaning and decluttering and planning and while I didn't get everything done I wanted to, I did make some progress.

We have way too much stuff. Stuff we don't use, stuff we don't need, stuff that isn't still here because it has sentimental value but simply because we haven't gotten around to tossing it. So today the plan of attack is to get rid of clothes that don't fit - The Boy's dresser has drawers of 4T clothes he hasn't been able to wear for a year now. Same with Middle Daughter. Well, her drawers aren't stuffed with size 4T, given she's in middle school. I'm bad, but I'm not that bad. My closet is crammed with sizes I will sadly never in this lifetime fit into again, so those will be going, too.

I'm hoping to someday convince Husband that he really doesn't need to save those four cartons of empty cd cases taking up half my closet. I swear, if I had known his plan was to keep the empty cases, I never would have bought those fancy zippered cd wallets he put on his Christmas list. Men.

Fly Lady

I tried the Fly Lady thing for a while. I got annoyed by all the emails, too. I didn't really learn all that much, or at least, anything I didn't already know. Too much to keep up with.
