It's always good to keep perspective [Jun. 20th, 2011|11:55 pm]

We  spent the last few days in Corpus Christi. Corpus has a lot to offer, but the best is the beach. I love the beach. My kids love the beach. My husband, not a fan. On the way home, when we did our usual round of "What was your favorite part?" he answered with "Leaving the beach."

I was a bit worried when we first arrived because the waves seemed rough. But they looked worse than they were, and the water was lovely. Corpus is much like Galveston in that the water is fairly shallow for a good distance from shore. Basically just a giant sandbar. But, like the dunes, there are dips here and there.

At one point, The Boy and I were sloshing through the waves when we hit a trough. Worried that he might be in over his head, I asked him, Can you touch bottom?

He assured me he could, but added, I think it's more important that I can touch top.

My husband hates the beach too. I don't get it. How can you not love the beach?
