In which nothing of great import happens [Sep. 22nd, 2009|10:51 pm]

It's a DITL day! Ever wonder about the exciting life of an IT manager?

First things first. I so need a new toothbrush.

Give us this day our daily meds

I never get tired of having running water

Turn off the alarm

How I love thee, L'Occitane

Breakfast of Champions

My morning interwebs fix

Put my face on

In honor of the first day of Autumn and the fact it's only going to be in the 80's, I pick out something Fallish

Wake The Boy. Two nights in a row without throwing up! Yay!

It's pouring rain, so Husband walks us out to the car with an umbrella. We're spoiled like that.

Middle Daughter takes pics on the way to school. I so need a new car.

The traffic is terrible.

The rain has let up, so Middle Daughter decides to get out and walk the rest of the way.

After nearly an hour to travel nine miles, I get to work and check my calendar.
It's a relatively light day - I'm only double booked twice, and my first meeting isn't until 10:00.

Which means I have time to get coffee. Is it sad I don't even have to say what I want before they make it?

Flummoxed by the free time, I check my to-do list

I have time to eat a cookie

And take a required online course

Meeting number 1. Finalizing the list of interview questions. I get to hire two developers!

Take the elevator back to my floor to get my glasses

My next meeting is in another building. It's still raining, so I take the tunnel. It's empty this time of morning.

Meeting number 2. Training class for approving requisitions and invoices.

Still raining, so I take the tunnel back. It's lunchtime, so there are more people. People who walk slowly. This annoys me.

Above ground, this is a two-block straight shot. In the tunnel, it's a 10-minute walk.

Time for lunch! I have 20 minutes to eat before my next meeting.

Because I eat fast, I have time for dessert. The label says low fat, so I pretend it's healthy despite the 35 grams of sugar.

Back on the elevator

Meeting number 3. Design meeting for new functionality. I bring cookies.

Meeting number 4. Team meeting.

Unplanned meeting with a developer to discuss new surprise requirements

New floor for meeting number 5. I didn't bother taking a pic of the elevator again. Brainstorming session for proposed new process.

Another unplanned post-meeting meeting. Discuss potential pilot program for new product. This is a different Diet Coke.

Back at my desk. All the meetings made quite a dent in the cookies.

Knock some some more stuff off the list

Time to go

Last elevator ride of the day. Not counting the one in the parking garage.

The rain has stopped, but it's still cloudy and icky

Pizza night. When I get home, the kids are already eating. The house is a mess.

I should clean it, but instead I read a magazine about people with clean houses.

Some snuggle time with Husband while the kids get ready for bed

I put away some laundry that has been hanging in the bathroom since Sunday

When I go to tuck in The Boy, I notice that his tooth is very very loose

Convincing him to let us pull it results in an hour of very intense drama.

After all the drama, it fell out as soon as Husband touched it. I am worn out from the hysteria and spend the rest of the evening watching Supernatural and posting these pics.

I got it at Target about three years ago. Usually they have really great lunch boxes, but this year they didn't have anything interesting at all.

Too cool! I also get a kick out of DITL posts. Real people who have real lives in the real world. Outside their own heads, even. Who are not Chloe Sullivan.

Got your flu shot yet? Meesh & I are going to brave Walgreens, who are providing the vaccine and poking people from 10 to 4. Last year we had a wahdoon of Seniors who were openly hostile at our even being there This year people are already wearing face masks. Really trippy.

Congrats to The Boy for losing A Toof!

tired for no reason

Re: Wow...

My company is giving them free next week, so I'll be getting mine then. Can't beat free and convenient.

Love Ditl posts! Fun! You looked very lovely in your fallish outfit.

The L'Occitane must be good stuff, seeing as how I know you hate paying for stuff. ;P

Love your lunchbox!

Are all you days this long? 8 - 6:30?

Some days are longer, lol.

I generally try to leave the office before 6:00. That doesn't happen much, though. It wasn't so bad when I got every other Friday off, but now I work the same long days but without the payoff.
