Sweet Sixteen [Apr. 14th, 2009|10:21 pm]
spinthemoon

Middle Daughter turned sixteen yesterday. We had cake a my mom's house. And her boyfriend came, so we finally got to meet him.

I give him points for bravery. We can be an intimidating bunch, even when abiding by the very long list of rules Middle Daughter set forth. But he seemed very nice, and took us all in stride. His stride, by the way, is quite large, given the fact that he's 6'4". And a half.

Husband is still having difficulty with the whole boyfriend thing. I can't believe he was holding her hand right in front of us, he huffed. Poor Husband. He has a long road ahead of him, I think.

I took lots of pictures, but the setting on my camera was wonky and most of them didn't come out.

I am curious what kind of rules she had set out for this meeting!

Don't stare, don't be weird, don't say anything inappropriate, don't ask him personal questions, don't talk about surgery while we're eating, don't comment on his height...

Yeah, the "don't be weird" part was hard.

She actually had a point with the "don't talk about surgery while we're eating" thing. My family is famous for that.

actually on my first date with jeff, he spent a good amount of time describing open heart surgery to me in detail. actually that was the END of our first date...after that I said I was tired and asked him to take me home. lol.

Wow, I think I basically just had some illegal thoughts about MD's boyfriend. That sentence was deadly. YOU KNOW WHICH ONE.

I'm curious about her rules too!

Happy Sweet Sixteen, MD!

Oh...I can totally relate to Husband. Last summer my oldest son invited a girlfriend over and they sat on the sofa holding hands...I so did not know how to react to it. I bit my tongue, but saints alive! it was hard!!!

Honestly, I didn't even notice. Then again, I was obeying the "don't stare" rule and Husband wasn't.

ROFL at her list of rules. "don't talk about surgery while we're eating" LOL - sounds like my family.

By the way, Happy sweet sixteen to MD. Where does the time go? I believe I've been reading your website/blog since she was about 11 or so. (she and stephen are the same age now!) =)
