I made one post in December. Sadly, that's not my worst posting month ever. I wanted to post, but it was just...the world was too much with us this month, I think. Nothing seemed appropriate. I didn't want to get all political and ranty but I knew if I started typing I would certainly head in that direction.

So, the new year is almost upon us, and it's time to start fresh. Which is not to say that I'm going to make any resolutions, because I don't do resolutions. I'm too ornery. If I make a resolution, my immediate reaction is to tell myself don't tell me what to do.

I used to be superstitous about the new year. I'm not any more. Mostly because I don't feel like cleaning the house. And just thinking about typing those words made me get up and move the refrigerator and clean behind it and under it and dust the coils. Which should be good enough, right? Since it's all symbolic anyway. And I am cooking black eyed peas tomorrow. And having a sip of champagne at midnight. And I am totally going to kiss my husband. I might not even wait until midnight for that one.
