Almost there [Mar. 19th, 2008|09:44 pm]
Today I shaved my legs and put on makeup and wore real clothes and it made me feel better because I'm shallow like that.

The kids stayed home with me, and the weather was really nice, so I took them to the park. I figured I'd sit on a bench and read while they ran around, but I ended up visiting with a very nice lady who was watching her grandchildren. She was originally from Peru but has lived in our neighborhood for about 13 years. We had a nice chat, but it made my throat hurt.

The Boy was very excited because Sophie was at the park. Sophie is the girl he's going to marry. He was originally engaged to someone else, but she was too rowdy. He really struggled with that, because he was very comitted to their engagement. (At one point his cousin, also six, told The Boy that he wished he wasn't engaged, and he was too young to get married. The Boy replied that he was engaged and that was that, and he hoped that his cousin could just be happy for him)

The first engagement was entirely the girl's idea. She just announced to The Boy that they were engaged, and it never occurred to him to argue. He worried constantly how they were going to get along once they got married, because apparently she was quite the rule breaker, and he is a stickler for following the rules. Eventually, he had enough and broke it off. I don't know how the girl took it. He decided to marry Sophie instead almost immediately. When my mom asked him how long he was going to be engaged to Sophie, he said, "Until she acts up." Smart boy.

After the park, we went to Target so I could get a shower curtain liner and some envelopes. I ended up spending nearly $90. How does that happen? I wasn't impulse buying, exactly, because it was all things I'm out of and needed and intended to pick up this weekend anyway, but still. I did pick up Enchanted and we came home to watch it but I fell asleep.

Tomorrow, I have to go to work. Wish me luck.

"Acting up" is the single biggest cause of divorce. The boy is wise beyond his years.

Don't get me started on Target. Please. They have a website you know. A website that features super cool Target stuff, some things they only offer on their super cool Target website. Tonight at work I was window shopping curtains but kept getting interrupted by self-centered people that wanted to involve me in their petty little delayed bag issues. Don't they know I have people coming this summer? I don't have time for their nonsense.

The version of Enchanted we got was a Target exclusive; it has a bonus disc with a "making of" featurette that was fab.
