Random acts of random randomness [Jul. 14th, 2007|09:40 am]
[Tags|, , ]

Why is it so hard to start posting again after being away for a few days? I guess because everything in my head is old news. Hmmm. That's probably truer than I'm comfortable with, lol.

In any case, some random stuff...

Have I mentioned that Oldest Daughter is here? Which means we have all been staying up very, very late? I don't know why dh and I think we should be able to keep teenhours. I mean, she's not the one who has to get up and go to work in the morning, so no harm done if she doesn't hit the sack until two am. After the first week, I gave up and started going to bed, although still not early enough. I'm thinking of trading in my undereye concealer for some spackle.

We are on a movie kick. This week we watched Elizabeth, which made us want to watch Shakespeare in Love, which made us want to watch Romeo and Juliet (the good one, with Oliva Hussey), which made Middle Daughter claim she was coming down with a cold. Ha!

Since the girls and I have been chick-flicking, Husband has spent lots of time playing LOTR online, which is one reason I haven't posted in a while. I'm such a good wife, letting him use his computer to do the thing he bought it for. I should get some bonus points, right?

Speaking of wifely bonus points, during a debate about how one can't possibly be a good wife and WOH, one of my friends came up with what I think is now my favorite line ever. I'm seriously thinking of having it tattooed somewhere on my body.

Oh, I could NEVER be fulfilled if I didn't send my big, strong, manly protector to work with a lunch I made with my own two hands and a cup of fresh coffee I brewed between my own two legs from the strength of my passionate love!!

Oldest Daughter has also been on a cleaning kick, which is fine with me. I have been seriously slacking in that department lately. I think I need to start wearing my glasses around the house, since not wearing them lets me believe that I don't have dustbunnies the size of eggplants in the corners.

She spent one entire evening scrubbing the living room tile with bleach. It looks awesome. The next day, she completely decluttered the den and found a place for all of The Boy's toys which were piled everywhere. When we asked why all the cleaning, she said she thought it was because she'd been watching chick movies.

She asked me, Does that ever happen to you? You watch a bunch of chick movies and then get the urge to clean?

, I replied. But I find that if I have a nice cup of tea and sit down for a while, it passes.

Now all this talk of cleaning has made me feel guilty. I think I'll go scrub something.

LOL! At least the chick-flicking urges her to clean rather than do something non-productive! Like fall into a 2-week crying jag! lucky you! Jzygail's quote is one for the ages, no doubt.

That quote was one for the ages.

I'm happy OD is home! Did you like Elizabeth?

Instead of glasses, I just keep the lighting low. Very low.

I think I'll go pop in "The Notebook" you know, just to see what happens.

Re: LOL!

I loved Elizabeth - I've watched it a few times and always forget how amazing Cate Blanchett is in it. Plus the clothes. They're making a sequel now.

Where is Oldest Daughter when she's not at home? Lucky you with a cleaning frenzy going on over there!

LOL! I've found the same thing.

She lives with her mom in AZ and stays with us for the summer, although now that she's older "the summer" is only about three weeks.

Being nearsighted is SUCH a blessing. Until I put my glasses on. Good lord this place has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Time to take off the glasses!

Chick flicks don't make me want to scrub or organize anything. I have some chick flicks. Would oldest daughter like to visit southern California sometime...soon? I'm trying to think of something that makes me want to scrub and organize things. Hmmmmm....I'll have to get back to you on that.

(And your bonus points are granted!)
