Dreamy [Apr. 18th, 2007|10:51 pm]

The other night, I had a very long and complicated dream, that - like every other dream I have - centered around me being in the wrong place, looking for the right place. But at the end of the dream, I was back at my parents' house, spending the night, and getting ready to go to bed. I walked into the bedroom, and then I heard a low growling. I wasn't alarmed, because I knew it was just the family dog (apparently named Night Ranger), and I got up and walked around the bed to go pet him.

But when I got around the bed, it wasn't the family dog at all. It was an iron doorstop, in the figure of a dog, that had come to life and was slinking towards me. It jumped on me, knocked me on the bed, and began biting the back of my neck, growling all the while.

I woke up, and it was still growling. Then I realized it was just Husband, snoring.

LOL! As I was reading I was thinking, wondering if DH is snoring and she's bringing it into her dream?

Would he consider "Iron Doorstop" a flattering nickname? :)

Wouldn't anything with "iron" in it be good?

Shades of "Little Red," my dear!

"Iron Dog" is a perfectly respectable nickname (for a man).

I was thinking that my dream meant snoring husbands are a pain in the neck...

What Dreams May Come

Speaking of great minds thinking alike..

"Iron Dog", "cold" iron, the better to keep away the mal fey, the denizens of the UnSeelie Court? Huh...

Otherwise, (if you're not counting secondary elaboration) the dream could warn of an attack from behind, completely unexpected, perhaps from someone known to the Dreamer, a sudden betrayal. Hidden danger. Not seeing, or oblivious the obvious. Something that is not seen or realized, even though it be in plain sight. Camouflage.

Then again, on the flip side, if the "Iron Dog" is seen in a protective light, an unknown champion, growling a warning while dragging the Dreamer away by the nape of the neck from whatever waits in the shadows.
