Random updateyness [Apr. 2nd, 2007|08:37 pm]

I was going to post yesterday, but then I remembered it was April first, and then I figured no matter what I posted, everyone would think it was an April Fool's entry, even if it was just random boring stuff, kind of like this post is going to be. And the only thing more depressing than making a post of random ordinariness is the thought that your life is so dull that random ordinariness might be mistaken for purposeful extra-ordinariness.

In any case, that's my excuse for not posting yesterday. I'm still working on excuses for why I haven't posted all those other days.

Which is actually a nice segue into the Question of the Day: As my faithful followers, when it comes to posts would you rather have quantity or quality? Because it's pretty obvious I'm incapable of delivering both.

So, on with the post...

For those who have been fraught with worry over the transient state of my small appliances, be anxious no more - my blender has found a home. It is now snuggled in a cabinet with the mixing bowls, and seems quite content. The blender house hunt gave me the opportunity to do some flinging, which is always fun. Gone gone gone are nine various and sundry coozies, three crazy straws of undetermined origin, and one rickety trivet. Well, the trivet isn't exactly gone, since I just fixed the ricketyness and moved it to the drawer with all the other trivets, but it still counts. And now I'm thinking if I ever form a band, it's going to be called Rickety Trivet.

Wednesday is our 9th anniversary. Ever the hopeless romantic, I bought a memory foam topper for our bed as an anniversary gift.  Now our bed is topped with three inches of foamy goodness. I like a firm bed (think: flooring) and Husband likes a soft bed (think: clouds) so I'm hoping this will be a good compromise. Because isn't compromise what marriage is all about? Actually, after nine years of experience under my belt, I think marriage is mostly about keeping your mouth shut, but that's a post for another day.

The weather has been really wacky; lots of rain and the temps are all over the place. Plants, apparently, love this sort of stuff. Today was the First Hibiscus Bloom plus the First Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow Bloom. I actually have hope that everything won't be brown and shriveled by May. Everything in the garden, I mean.

So, enough randomness for one night. Did I manage to make you forget I haven't posted an Oscar fashion review yet?

In fact, your post was so random I don't even know where to start, since I could comment on about everything you said.

So, in lieu of a huge list of specific replies, I will just give you an all-purpose "yeah!" and move my head in a vigorous up-and-down fashion.

Double yeah on the Rickety Trivets.

Can I please....

please...please...score points for knowing exactly what a trivet is?

I think I still have crazy straws hanging around somewhere. And sippy cups. Why in the hell do I need sippy cups???

I refuse to give up my tea cozy though. My gram double crotched it, and it does keep my Red Rose ever so warm.

I like quantity. And, I have to say...you are one of the few who can, and does deliver both.

Who else could write a seemingly inncuous blog about a blender, and having me sitting here with tears in my eyes remembering my grammy?

Re: Can I please....

I was just kicking myself for still having sippy cups around the house, and my youngest is only FIVE. Thank you for setting the bar so low!! Now I don't have to worry about it for another few years.

Happy Anniversary! I think of you as newlyweds. Then again, I think of Middle Daughter as 8 and the boy as a fetus. I don't know why time stopped when we met in June of 2000.

I'm glad the blender found a happy home though apparently at the expense of your coozies. If you later find yourself longing for some replacements, let me know. I have several. And since the odds of a blender purchase are about 400-1, I don't think they're going anywhere soon.

Because I am so adult ADD, random works really well for me. I have no trouble following this type of entry.

I am so happy to know that your blender has found a good home. :)

Happy Anniversary to you two!
