Subject: URGENT - Middle Daughter - Schedule

Last year I received a permission slip to place my daughter, Middle Daughter, into the Algebra program. I did not give permission for her to enter this program. I do not want her in this program. Her basic math skills are very weak and she does not have the proper foundation for succeeding in an accelerated math curriculum.

When she attended Charger Camp last week, she requested a schedule change to be removed from this class. Today, she received a new schedule. Instead of being removed from the Algebra program, her  regular math class was replaced with Dissertation.

Please change her schedule immediately to remove her from Algebra and place her into the regular math class. If you have any questions,  please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached during the day at the number below.

 Thank you,

MD's Mom

I will look at her schedule...
MD qualified for Algebra. She was not placed.
Do you want her to try it out for 3 weeks to give her a chance?

I am not sure what you mean by "she was not placed". She is currently scheduled to take Algebra. I expressly asked she not be scheduled for this class.

I am fully aware that she scored well on the algebra aptitude test, but I am also aware that she struggles with basic math skills and very nearly failed math altogether last year. I believe that it would be doing her a great disservice to place her in an algebra class without a solid understanding and mastery of math fundamentals. Even if she understands the logic for algebra, without the foundation of arithmetic necessary to actually solve the equations, she will not be able to keep up with the program.

I expect this issue to be resolved tomorrow at the latest, so that she will not fall behind in her replacement math class. Please let me know if I need to come by the school tomorrow to discuss this with you.

Thank you,

MD's Mom

Grrr. Just Grrr.

Makes you just love the teaching system sometimes. Apparantly, Mrs. C doesn't understand basic english either.

Re: Before I put my foot in my mouth...

The Grrr is for
1) To be included in the program, they needed a signed waiver from me. They did not have one, but put her in the program anyway.
2) Not only did they not have the waiver, they had a form from me specifically stating that I did NOT want her in the class.
3) When MD got her schedule last week, she put in for a schedule change to be taken out of algebra. Instead, they left her in algebra but took her out of regular math.
4) I thought my note was pretty specific, but Ms C (her house principal) still asked if I wanted to leave her in the class. Can she not read?
5) I've already had a bad experience with this school not doing what I've asked (which is why MD has yet to be evaluated for learning disabilities despite FOUR formal requests and in direct violation of Texas law)

So, Grrr.

Even though my mind was reading 'MD', for some reason it was processing 'OD'. DUH Annie, DUH.

Have you been there yet to raise the roof on the place? I would be....it doesn't matter one whit what they want.

What a frickin' moron. "She wasn't placed"???? HELLO.
