You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish [Aug. 3rd, 2006|06:41 am]

No, this post is not about fish, which is good because my life is pretty fishless at the moment, and if this post was about fish, I wouldn't have much to say.

On a board that I frequent, someone just got an iPod and was looking for suggestions of what to put on it. She got a lot of really good responses. So good, in fact, that I started thinking about songs I hadn't thought about in years. I got quite nostalgic. Maudlin, almost.

Now, I don't have an iPod. I don't actually want an iPod. Can't do the earphone thing. But I started remembering with undue fondess The Mix Tape, and so for no particular reason, and in no particular order, is a list of songs I would put on a mix tape/ipod:

Moon Dance - Van Morrison
Ballroom Blitz - Sweet
Don't You Want Me Baby - Human League
Something - Beatles
Tiny Dancer - Elton John
I Will Always Love You - Dolly Parton
Jeans On - whoever did the 70's version, not the crappy remake
2 Chairs and One Tree - Brother
Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard
When Diana Fell - The Rogues
Tell Me To My Face - Dan Fogelberg
Speeding Cars - Imogen Heap
Theme from Rocky
Peekaboo - Souixe and the Banshees
Cantiga/La Rotta - Wyndnwyre
Sundown - Gordon Lightfoot
Time in a Bottle - Jim Croce
Santa Esmerelda Suite - Santa Esmerelda
Behind Blue Eyes - The Who
Love on a Farmboy's Wages - XTC
Funeral for a Friend/Loves Lies Bleeding - Elton John
Cullen Anderson (instrumental) - The Rogues
thetimeisnow - Brother

Um, there's more, but I have to get ready for work.

Missed one!

You forgot Brandy by Looking Glass. Laugh at my Manillow and Hall and Oates? HAH! We share taste because I would *adore* that mixed tape.

And of course secretly, and not so anyone would know we would have another tape with "Seasons in The Son" on it, now wouldn't we?

Re: Missed one!

Hey, I'm not the one who laughed at your Manilow addiction. I am after all the one who saw Neil Diamond in concert. And liked it. And I'm sure I would have gotten around to listing Seasons in the Sun if I hadn't had to stop and get ready for work.

By the way, it only helps to have an LJ account if, when you post a comment, you click on the LiveJournal user button.

Re: Missed one!

*sigh* (doing that alot lately) Neil Diamond. One of the best concerts I ever attended. Well, except for the whole beer spilling incident and being one of the most "dressed down" people that attended. How was I supposed to know that ND called for glitz and glam?

How could you NOT know that?

Neil is HOT. Beer spilling? Hmmm...almost as good as vomitting.
