Despite his comment about having a long term short term memory problem, The Boy has an amazing memory. He remembers everything. Everything he sees, everything he reads, everything he hears. He can watch a movie one time and then quote every line of dialogue. Repeatedly. For years.
I find this a bit disconcerting, because I count on my kids forgetting stuff. Knowing that ten years from now they aren't going to remember (insert Epic Parenting Fail Here) is my primary coping mechanism. The Boy shatters this illusion on a regular basis. (Note to self; blog about the tag gun sometime when I'm not about to be late for work)
Saturday, as we were leaving the restaurant after having dinner, we were taking about cars breaking down and The Boy started talking about how my car broke down one time and we had to walk back to the house from the gas station. At first I had no clue what he was talking about, but then I vaguely remembered the incident. It happened when he was about three - which makes it nearly seven years ago. I commented on his remarkable memory, and he said, I do have a good memory. I remember everything like it was yesterday. Except the dinner we just had, because I remember that like it was today.
