I have nothing clever to say [Feb. 15th, 2009|09:01 am]

but dangit, I have gotten out of the habit of posting and I really need to get back in, so you'll just have to bear with me while I get my groove back. (Heh...I almost typed "bare with me" which would give a completely different and somewhat unsettling meaning to that sentence)

It does look like the crazy busy hours at work are mostly over. I actually left the office before 9:00 pm every night last week. And (knock wood) I will get to take my 9/80 day this coming Friday. I shouldn't whine about my job because the chances of still having it this time next year are getting slimmer by the day, but it's possible to be grateful about having something while at the same time being annoyed by it, right? I mean, that dynamic pretty much applies to my husband or my kids at least once a week.

Anyway, with the crazy busy hours winding down, I hope to get caught up on the housework. Right now it looks like I'm gunning for a spot on How Clean is Your House. (Oh, the pop culture references I can make now that I have cable!) Husband has been awesome about keeping up with the laundry and dishes and general picking up but keeping the house clean is really a two-man job. If I were a good mother I would have taught my kids to do all the cleaning and they would have chores so they would clean on a regular basis without having to be told what to do and when to do it. I need to look into that, even though it will seriously damage my slacker mom cred.

OK, I'm off to mop the bathroom. Wish me luck!

Bare with me! Lol!

I'm pretty sure with me in the running for How Clean is Your House, you don't have a chance. Nada, zero, zip.

What Immediately Springs To Mind

"If seven maids with seven mops,"
"Swept it for half a year, "
"Do you suppose," the Walrus said
"That they could get it clear?"
"I doubt it!" said the Carpenter,
And shed a bitter tear.

You mean after all that trouble with the tile that you and DH still haven't christened that shower yet?? Or are you just wary of the quality of the oysters these days?

I'm a slacker, too

I haven't trained my kids to do chores automatically. They'll walk right past a mess and out the door.

I don't know where they get that from.

Hello! Guess who?
You're doing way better than I am; I haven't posted in ... forever. This is my first time to even read blogs in weeks.
I'm glad to hear that you're surviving your crazy hours. I haven't watched that show on cable ... hmm, they could do an entire episode on me.
Take care~
