Bah, Humbug...want some eggnog? [Dec. 10th, 2007|10:19 pm]
spinthemoon
In an effort to get myself out of the non-Christmas-spirit-funk I seem to be in, a couple of pics of our tree:

I have no reason to be moody and disgruntled; I just am. I'm even ahead of the game, shopping-for-presents-wise, and I'm not even proud of myself. Husband has put up the decorations and the stockings are hung by the chimney with care and the polar bear is standing on the Baby Jesus and we even have more lights than usual on the house and yet I feel like I might fly into a zillion pieces at any moment. I feel as old - and as fragile - as the antique glass bead garlands on our tree.

I'm having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year too.

What is it about this year? I feel like such a Scrooge.

I like those pictures. :)

I've been out of sorts, but I'm think I'm beginning to pull out of it. This weather isn't helping much.

You think after 47 years, I'd be used to warm Decembers, but it still makes it hard to take all the Christmas songs about snow seriously.

I'm sure I'll come around soon.

I'll take some eggnog with a spike of brandy! Maybe that will make us BOTH feel better. Your tree is lovely. I am seriously considering buying a prelit tree at the end of this season. Is yours prelit with white and colored lights? The ornaments are gorgeous, too. I hope this mood lifts REAL soon!

It's fake, but not prelit. We (and by "we" I mean "husband") hung about four strings of lights on it - two each of white and color. I think it could use about four more, but he hates stringing lights so this is plenty.

Heck, I'm proud of you. Over here? No lights, no tree yet, just a little shopping done. Just not feeling it yet either myself.

At one time she was holding a snowflake, but it's gotten lost somewhere through the years.

Mmm, eggnog!

Your tree looks pretty! I think we have similar tree decorating styles. ;D

I thought the same thing, when I saw the pics of your tree. Ours is a combination of "store-bought" stuff, hand-me-down stuff, and stuff the kids have made over the years. For some reason, in pictures it never looks like there are any ornaments on the tree, but I'm going to try and get some better pics tomorrow.
